ARRIVAL AT NARKANDA

Altitude: 9,055 ft

Report at Narkanda Hotel. (If you are travelling from Chandigarh you have to start your journey by /before 8:30 am) Narkanda is a town in Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is at an altitude of 2708 meters on the Hindustan-Tibet Road (NH 12) in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is surrounded by the Shivalik Range that span a large part of Himachal Pradesh.

NARKANDA TO KALPA

 After breakfast drive to Kalpa.Kalpa is a small town with a history of ancient temples in the Sutlej river valley, above Recong Peo in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.

KALPA TO KAZA

Altitude: 12,014 ft

Approx. Distance: 215 km

After breakfast drive to Kaza via Nako Nako lies in Upper Kinnaur on the edge of remote spiti valley & an important centre of Tibetan Buddhism. Nako has seven temples of different periods distributed all over the village, including a monastic complex on its western edge. Nako is situated right on the Tibetan border over a beautiful lake. Kaza, sitting huddled in the corner of Himachal Pradesh is a tranquil getaway on the plains of the Spiti River. Lapped by majestic mountains covered in snow, meandering and bubbling rivers and streams and picturesque barren landscape with scattered patches of green, Kaza is a dream destination.

KAZA - KI MONASTERY - KIBBER - CHICHAM - LANGZA - KOMIK - HIKKIM - KAZA

Altitude: 12,014 ft

Approx. Distance: 85 km

After breakfast drive enjoy excursion of famous villages of Spiti Valley Key (KI) Monastery: Almost 7km from Kaza, this Monastery, established in 11th century is the largest in Spiti valley. Kibber (14040 FT.) - India’s only wild life sanctuary in a cold desert is located here. The village is known for its scenic mountains, barren splendor and monasteries. Kibber is also famous for Snow leopard habitats in winter season. Chicham is very remote and Hamlet of Spiti Valley. Kibber - Chicham Ropeway is one great example of the will power of villagers. Long time back, this ropeway was the only connection between Spiti and Chicham village. After the construction of bridge to Chicham it has become little simpler for villagers to connect with Spiti. The Chicham Bridge is said to be the World's highest bridge from sea level at 4,037m (13,244ft). Enroute During this journey you may enjoy sighting of Snow leopard. Also you can explore local people life during winter. Langza is Natural Fossil Centre. Komik - Komik village has the distinction of being the highest motorable village in the world. One of the world's highest monasteries (15,027 ft), called "Komic Lundup Chhemo" is situated in this village Hikkim: There is Highest Post office. Then drive back to Kaza.

KAZA TO TABO VIA DHANKAR MONASTERY

Altitude: 10,760 ft

Approx. Distance: 70 km

After breakfast drive to Tabo via Dhankar. Dhankar - Dhankar is just like another small village in the cold desert of Spiti Valley. Dhankar Monastery was built as a fort monastery on the  Central Tibetan pattern. After visiting Dhankar drive towards Kaza. Tabo - Tabo Monastery (established in 11th Century; also called as Chos-Khor Monastery), The Chamber of Picture Treasures (Zal-ma), Tabo Caves. Tabo is called as Ajantha & Ellora of Himalaya.

TABO TO SANGLA

After breakfast drive to Sangla. Sangla is a riverside valley overlooking stunning Himalayan views. Sangla area is full of apple, orchards and April-Sept is best time to arrive here and explore.

SANGLA & CHITKUL EXCURSION

After breakfast drive from Sangla to Chitkul. Chitkul is considered as the last village on Old India-Tibet trade route. The most number of houses in Chitkul are built with wooden walls and wooden roofs. Drive back to Sangla. At Sangla you can enjoy a small hike.
