Meghalaya is a state situated in the north-eastern part of India, known for its picturesque landscapes, lush greenery, and rich cultural heritage. The name "Meghalaya" translates to "the abode of clouds," fitting for a region renowned for its heavy rainfall and mist-covered hills. It is often referred to as the "Scotland of North East India. 

Meghalaya boasts several captivating tourist spots, including Cherrapunji - known for their record-breaking rainfall, the living root bridges of Nongriat and Mawlynnong village, recognized as one of Asia's cleanest villages. The state also offers mesmerizing waterfalls like the Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, and Elephant falls, along with limestone caves such as the Mawsmai Cave.

Itinerary Highlights

ARRIVAL AT GUWAHATI & TRANSFER TO KAZIRANGA

  • Approx. Distance: 225 km

  • Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, you’ll be received by the driver.  Visit Kamakhya Temple. MaaKamakhya or Kameswari is the renowned Goddess. It is considered the most sacred and oldest of the 51 Shakti Peethas.

  • Then proceeds to Kaziranga National Park.

  • Kaziranga National Park - a world heritage site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros. Kaziranga also boasts the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Though sighting of tigers is difficult because of the tall grasses that provide excellent camouflage, their presence can be felt everywhere by way of pug marks, kills and territorial markings. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer.

  • If time Permits You can enjoy an afternoon jungle safari by jeep.

KAZIRANGA

  • Approx. Distance: 50 km

  • Early in the morning you can enjoy an elephant safari in Kaziranga. 

  • In the afternoon you can visit Tea estate and then you can enjoy one more jungle safari by jeep.

  •  Visit Kakochang waterfall (Depends on Season).

  • Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

  • Approx. Distance: 270 km

  • After breakfast drive to Shillong which is famously known as The Scotland of north east India.

  • En-route visit Umiam Lake. Later head out to explore the cafes and the local market of the Shillong in the evening.

  • After breakfast drive to one of the wettest places on Earth- Cherrapunji.

  • En-route visit Elephanta Falls. 

  • After reaching Cherrapunji (Sohra) Visit Seven Sisters Waterfall, Limestone Caves, Sohra Tribal Market and enjoy beautiful nature.

  • Approx. Distance: 220 km

  • After breakfast, drive to Dawki. Visit the cleanest river of India in Dawki. You can enjoy boating in Dawki river. 

  • Then proceeds to the Cleanest Village of Asia- ‘Mawlynnong’. Explore this beautiful village. 

  • Then visit famous Living Root Bridges and drive back to Cherrapunji (Sohra)

  • Overnight Stay at Cherrapunji.

  • After breakfast, drive to Shillong.

  • Visit the Air Force Museum at Shillong. The Air Force Museum is a unique museum located in Shillong, dedicated to the history and achievements of the Indian Air Force. 

  • Then proceeds to Guwahati airport & depart.
